Quite a few people over on the BroadBandReports.com VoIP forum use them.  Some are really happy to get "free calls" from them.

Personally, I found their service to be marginal at best.  So after wasting a few hours trying ot get them to work, I gave up and concluded that my time was worth more than the small amount I would have been saving in LD charges...

Voipbuster increased performance within the last days. A lot of destination are still free but you need to fund at least 1 Euro to get rid of the 1 minute limit.

However it is still beta, so expect unannounced outages and - of course - the end of the free trial period.

Currently I use it mainly for private calls within Germany with my Asterisk and with an dierectly connected IAX phone.

Second that. I am "close" to their server and they still were constantly dropping out.

I've had my Challenges with trying to purchase Euros.  I get and error in the Color of Red stating error 103.  Regardless if it is VISA or Pay Pal that I use to purchase with.

Voip Buster working fine for me

Postby Gabor on Friday, Sep. 09, 2005 10:39am

I have programmed voice buster to one of the line keys of my Cisco 7960 and enjoy free calls throughout europe for free. Audio quality is very good.

The only two problems are:
- during evening hours (in europe), the service seems to be overloaded and it can be difficult to get a line, even with several attempts,
- incomming calls are not supported in SIP, only on IAX.

I had this happen on a site when I ordered nearly $500 of voIP equipment. Got an error page during the credit card transaction, never got an email confirmation. Then, a charge on my card for $479!!!

*They* claimed all was well. Good thing AmEx is a little more on your side for fighting these things, we got free of it without paying the 15% re-stocking charge they wanted.

We wasted weeks screwing around with this but I wasn't about to pay money I didn't owe.

Use their softphone or any IAX Client. You can be reached by your username from other voipbuster accounts or worldwide on your DID if you got one.

I have been using VOIPBUSTER for long time now... I started using it when they were charging 1 euro for unlimited calls... never had problems... It was totally worth it... I have been using it on my asterisk server... infact I found their voice quality better than vonage (I hate vonage)... i think the 5 euro that they charge now is totally worth it.... the countries that voipbuster doesnt server for FREE are served by their sister companies... like Voipcheap.co.uk and i have seen a couple others... dont remember now...

voicbuster is bad

Postby kcapital on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005 4:17am

I cant use voicebuster also. I have had many problems, one of which is my internet connection goes out after about 1 min.

I live in Greece and since many people report that voicebuster is very good, I am wondering if mabey the fact that I cant talk with it has somthing to do with the overall internet infustruture in Greece??

Quality?

Postby Ralph on Sunday, Jun. 15, 2008 3:21am

I've registered with this service and tested it. The line breaks up a fair bit for me trying calls to UK and Canada (from the UK). About a 1 second delay. The last call I made, I could hear them fine, but they said they had a really bad line - tonnes of crackle etc.

I'm not sure if this is due to the headset I use - a cheapy £10 one. Would a handset make any difference, and does anyone recommend the USB handsfree ones that have a 300m range?

Also, could it be that I'm registered with the NetAppel which is the French version of VOIPbuster/VOIPCheap? Just wondering if I am being routed to France first hen off to N. America. I don;t think it shoul dmake any difference, but worth checking.
